Thank's for posting a great series of pictures, Jack. Those are some great looking rigs you've got there. Be careful on the job. A lot of people don't realize just how dangerous this work can be even under the right conditions. Mike

Thanks again for the pictures Jack! A few questions about the 1800/1550: - On the ballast tray I only see the standard counterweights, not the special "rectangular" ones for the middle part of the tray. But you do have them, I suppose? - Is there any advantage in using the derrick mast with the telescopic boom, when you also have the lattice boom? I've heard about the German company Thömen, who also still has both the telescopic and the lattice boom for their good old LGD 1550, that they use the derrick only in combination with the lattice boom and never with the telescopic. Which makes some sense to me since the lattice boom is lighter. On the other hand, clever way of lifting the telescopic boom with the derrick bridle

Another fantastic set Jack! I really think Alleys/Osprey need a full time photographer working for them Paul R

Not a crane man personally but you look like your having a whale of a time mate! The first big crane I ever saw was the ainscough 1800 and I've liked the look of them since!
Do.ainscough still own there's? (Sorry for the off topic)

@ Jack, about the counterweights: "ballast slap 2" from the Liebherr pdf data. Same weight, but different symmetrical shape with 4 lifting lugs. Pictures I collected from the German forum:

Ah, we only have the standard ones. I don’t see any benefit to those, what if the truck with those slabs turns up when you are ballasting up the superstructure! They will all have to go on the floor and be handled twice! Also when ballasting the tray you would have to keep changing the tackle on the rig crane to suit 4 and then 3 lug slabs.... I’m glad we don’t have them!!! Heavy Cranes

@ Jack, your latest pics with the full ballast tray already countered my question if you had them or not It could also be a form of standardization from Liebherr, hadn't thought about that yet. Edit: I have asked the question on the German forum, let's see if someone knows more
