i think the grove models from twh are great, the only complaint i have with them are the cylinders, but thats with just about every hydro crane model. other than that, they are awesome!

What didn't you like about the Groves? I was thinking of getting the Mediaco at least.

Paul,

I have several of the Grove cranes, including the Mediaco. I really like them, no paint issues, well packaged, nicely detailed, etc. The only complaint I have about them is that the counterweight is attached in one piece. I wish it would break down for transport.

Just my 2 cents,

As for the 31000, I will pick one up for sure. When, who knows? I will surely pick up an SGC120 when they come out first.

So I'm guessing this will be the announcement,

We anticipate an announcement from TWH Collectibles by the end of March, 2012 regarding the Manitowoc 31000 revised ship date. We speculate end of year 2012 or first quarter of 2013. We have learned that there have been significant complications regarding a factory change and project economics that have now been officially overcome. The project looks to be back on track! Get your order in and keep in tune with DHS Diecast where announcements of progress are sure to resume!

AVAILABLE: Q4, 2012 or Q1, 2013

This just in... Manitowoc 31000 Update:
We are excited to announce that the 1:50 scale model of the Manitowoc 31000 is back on track and heading into the tooling phase in April. We apologize for the delay, but significant complications regarding a factory change and the resulting economic repercussions have now been overcome. The new ship date for this iconic model is scheduled for February of 2013. The MSRP will remain at $1800US and the final configuration has been confirmed at 80m boom and 60m (just under 9 feet tall!). Production quantity will be 750 pieces of this officially licensed Manitowoc replica

basically the same thing i posted a few days ago

Believe it when I see it. Hopefully QC is somewhat better than the 16000 and 18000. It is not like they have not had time!

But the SGC120 will blow the 31000 out of the water so I know where my money will go.

Agreed!

I hope they release something (NOT THE 31000, Something like a 2250 or 777T/Crawler) between now and 2013 or 2014 when its released. If not I've lost all respect for them...

Ben,

True, but I'll bet at least one will be gone before Feb. 2013!

That is good news. But from all the photos that I have seen of the SGC, 1:1 or 1:50, I just don't see any spectacular detail. The whole thing is kind of blah compared to the 31000.

Yes, a turning deck with semi containers on it. Sign me up. I could see getting one for what the 1:1 SGC actually is, but if you are going by details only, I just don't see the comparison. We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Ben, how far are both disassembled now?

heres a clip of milo, TWH engineer, at the TWH factory today, showing the 31000

milo at the twh factory

for those who are wondering,
-the boom will be diecast, not brass like the 18000
-the drums have been redesigned to lock
