Stumbled across this today, what an awesome replacement for your garden shovel hahaha.

Possibly the worlds smallest mini excavator, the Kobelco Super Shovel model SS-60, is designed to replace manual labor on small digging jobs and to work easily in confined areas.

Width - 19in.
Output - 3.5hp.
Weight - 600lbs.
Tracks - plastic 5.5 in width.

I also found this picture of a CAT 008CCR on Machinerytrader.com, another mini-mini excavator.

I've run one of those ss-60's at my local komatsu dealership. they had one there repainted as a komatsu pc6 but you opened the hood and it still said kobelco. pretty neat little machine. but limited usage. from what I hear the one from the dealership went to the owner's house for his grand kids to play with.

Haha, Eric, thats just how I imagine it, being used as a toy. Did you manage to get any pictures of it in it's Komatsu suit?

Smile Eric,

Yeah, that is true. I worked at AIS when that happened and it was up at the Richmond branch on the eastside. It was a present from "Dan Peyerk" of Dan's Excavating, Inc. (Founder) to his grandson. We had it up at the branch a few days before Dan picked it up. It was pretty cool. Kind of made me wonder if I could get one for my grandkids in my backyard!!

They are great for digging out old floors in old houses for putting in insulation, DPC and concrete floors. These tend to be back-breaking jobs as all the old soil etc usually has to be barrowed out. Being thin enough to get through the usual doorways means this little beast and its brother the skip loader or mini tracked wheel barrow makes the job far more acceptable!
