One more.I'll try to get a few more later this week. I guess the 3 through the 6 will be updated to K-series.

Well that was not a surprise , it was only a matter of time before the D 3,4,5 G was replaced by the K though nothing on the Cat site about it yet, found mention about the K series in a Spanish construction mag in May, but nothing in any English mags. nice little dozers should realy give Deere a run for there money now with the small dozers! only the D7R II to be replaced with a T now with Acert.

Joe, the K-series models use the low track design, the T series models will be using the high sprocket drive 'traingular track' shape.

The G series has been replaced with the K series, models use the low sprocket drive design.
The R series has been replaced with the T series, models use the high sprocket drive design.

Rowan.

Cat haven't replaced the raised track models at all, the raised track D4H and D5M have gone but they have been out of production for several years anyway and the D5N is gone. The D3,4 and 5 K replace the similar D3,4,5G and the D6K is a new model the new models broaden the range and give direct competition to the Deere models
D3K - JD450J
D4K - JD550J
D5K - JD650J
D6K - JD700J
these 4 models are the main competition to Cat in the US and Cat now have much better matching to the Deere's
D6N - JD750J
D6T - JD850J
D7RII-JD950J
D8T - JD1050J
Cat out sells these equivelant sizes in the Deere's anyway.

the D6K is a new model

Yes, but it replaces the D5N.

Good to know that these are finally out... I operated one in October of 2005! (D4K) Not easy keeping my mouth shut... but I did it. Smiley

As far as Cat not mentioning the K-series at all, there has been small mention of it around Cat's sites and also in US trade publications. I haven't found a specific reference, but nestled in some sentence somewhere, it has been brought up.

Look at how the diameter of the sprocket is much larger than the idler. And also notice how the sprocket is slightly higher than the front idler. This is consistent among the K-series dozers. I found that interesting. If anybody on this forum has an explanation for this lay it on us!Teeth

I know orders have been very strong for the D6K and there's some good feedback already about it. I'm curious to see how things will go for the smaller models, which Cat did say were coming in time.
