Shes definitely got a jimmy in her. Those old 22Bs were quite a machine. If you crawl under the car body there are a couple rods that slide back and forth that need to be lubed so the track dogs will slide in and out. Then you can turn and lock the tracks for digging with that drag line. I've got quite a few hours in one. A few years ago I drove 200 piling though a cannery dock in Port Moller AK, with ours. It was a late 40s model. It had a caterpillar engine with a pony motor to start it. Shes all mechanical. Usually the operator is the hardest working man on the crew. I could find some pics if you want to see em.

My best friends dad, who retired a Local 825 crane operator a few years back, owned a 22-B like that when we were kids. He dug many of the local farmer's irrigation ponds . He would constantly ask us to try and run it and I wish I would of given it some more seat time than I did. It was the first real piece of equipment I ever tried running at the age of about 12. There are still quite a few of them around believe it or not, mostly on farms.

Reid construction still uses a few of them on a daily basis but I think that they are 30B's. They are painted yellow with no markings. The last one that I saw was on the Rt46 project in Clifton. Great to see these things still earning thier keep.

They put on a very good show and are some of the nicest people I know. Remember to wear some work cloths as they will let you get close enough to the stuff to get grease on yourself. Which is a good thing.

Problem is it's the weekend after the Macungie ATCA truck show which I try not to miss every year. Other problem is for who and where the hall sends me to work. But I will definately try, please post a reminder when the time comes near. We rally round the family, with a pocket full of shells.....

I'm sure there are plenty of people who'd want to buy it from the owner. It needs work but it's a runner. If you go again, tell him about the HCEA as he'd get quite a few bids.

the old b-e cranes were pretty durable and nice to run once you got used to pushing the hoist levers instead of pulling them.its cool any time i see one in running condition!!

The machine was built in the UK as the 22RB - pretty much the same model apart from the name on the plate. There are still plenty around and some are still in use.
