These were taken today at a place called Stalybridge near Manchester, England.

They can't get onto site with the girder trailer so the road was blocked and they transhipped the transformer onto flat tops. They were brand new Goldhofer's - ALE have always used Nicolas but they're getting old and are apparently going out to the Middle East where ALE do a lot of work.

The tractors are all German-made Faun's.

I really like the versatility of that girder trailer. You learn a lot about it when you have the model and all the configurations it can do, length and width. Those are awesome pictures of the equipment in action. Thanks for posting!!

A text from a friend of mine Fri night Jack. It is about 4 miles from home but I may have never known it was happening....

He stayed whilst they transhipped the transformer. They put the girders on stills (shorter ones than in the pics - they were too big and they had to get smaller ones from Hixon) They then pulled the necks out and put the flattop under. Then lift the flat top, remove the stills girder trailer beams and wood packing - and it is loaded. (and then chained)

Total weight of trucks and girder set was 500T I think. Transformer probably 250T.

Hi Tim . Well I did go this morning Weather ok when it set of then a really heavy hail shower just before it went down the hill .

trl weight 320t total overall lenght inc tractors 75.945m width 5m height 5.180 m

I was talking to a couple of the ALE men and they said they would be there a couple of days so it may be worth you looking round there again I think they have some internat work to do .

There was a Beck AND Pollitzer crane in the site at the end of the road but you could not get a shot of it for trees .

Sweet pictures. You wonder why ALE dont have trucks with Hiabs on too do their own lifting. Its a common thing for them to do, laying mats over weak structures.

They had this Renault tackle waggon with a Hiab there too for the plating - but Ainsccough did the bigger mats.
