Came home from a dinner out with the lady only to find the boom of my 16000 folded over. I was going to take the boom apart tomorrow to glue all the pins that were coming out of the boom. I hadn't had a load on it at all and when i came home it was buckled. 1 40ft section and the 10ft section are ruined. my pendants are ruined.. this sucks... From here I don't have a clue what to do.. Should I contact TWH and tell em' what happened?? the 10ft section and 2 40ft sections are ruined...

When I was assembling mine the same thing almost happened.I called Towselys and they sent me new sections. I noticed other sections were lose so I gingerly (not all pins are lose)pried them open and glued the pins to the tubing. Not all the sections and not all 4 pins were lose. Hope this helps. Bob

Bob I'll do that, i honestly don't understand how this happened. It's up away from everything, I came home and it was buckled over the back of it. I'm looking at some of the other boom pieces and they seem to be damaged also. Thanks craneboi, I hope I can get it fixed Im still not 100% on how much of the boom is damaged. I know this is a really stupid question, but is there a website for TWH?

You better check the log on that computer to make sure the operator wasnt over picking. Seriously, that sucks. How much boom did you have on? Is it the amount that came with the machine or did you have more?

I kept out 2 40ft sections... Cheesehead (oiler) I can't believe this happened to us!!!!! I've never been more pissed in my life!! My lady is the one that's mad she bought it for me

Gentlemen, I'm not saying this is the cause, but here is an observation that could be a cause. Seems I have seen three (3) Manitowoc 16000 crawler cranes with boom problems. All three (3) have been custom painted. It very well could be that either the process to remove the original paint or the paint being applied is effecting the joint. Not sure if the pins are glued in or pressed in. If glued, either process could be softening the flue. Or if pressed in the metal is being fatigued, causing stress fractures that are being effected by either process. It will be interesting to see if anyone with factory paint has this problem. Randy M. Smolenack RMSmodels@aol.comrandy.m.smolenack@us.army.mil I don't think it has to do with custom painting, There have been many complaints about the pins being loose before it's set up, or while it's being set up. Mine sat for 7 months before this happened Althought painting may seem as the cause. If it was I figure it would have happened 7 months ago and not 7 months later.
