Great pics as usual Tim! Will they have to set these in pairs with false work under them?

Great photos! Thanks again Tim. Tim wrote:It will be bolted to a cliff for the rest of its life!! and your and mine and most likely all of us!! We hope. I know a bridge where they said close to the same thing. It made a heck of a rumble when it disagreed. Hope you are there when it comes time to place it! - Chris

That's a hunk of steel. I sure would hate to know how much that cost, it's worst a small fortune just in scrap Thanks for posting

That piece is too heavy for that crane to set in pairs. I would expect they would set one at a time with temporary stay cables in 3 directions. Hopefully they install the cross bracing the same day. I saw a girder come down over traffic in Denver that didn't have enough bracing. Thanks for posting the pics Tim.

Nice photos Tim. I would assume from looking at the end of the girder that they will be sending someone in there to do inspections.

Man that is some girder Tim ! Question why are the mounting holes elongated on that base plate ? I would think you would want a close fit over the studs as possible.Minimal clearance 2 mounting plates drilled back to back and test fitted at factory. This way to me looks like they have travel room to elongate and wear more !Well that is my way of thinking anyway !Unless they have elongated washers to center the beams at assemblythen that makes sense.
Regards Chet

Regards Chet Probably so the material can expand and contract.

Baseplate holes are usually larger, or slotted to allow you to properly align the piece, and do it without wrecking the bolts. Arch chords are always in compression, so the anchor bolts don't do much, and will probably be filled with grout around the bolts anyway.
Internal manholes are usually for erecting (someone had to get inside to bolt sections together), but they may get accessed for inspection. Inside of box chord is not a fun place to be, and you had better go in in the direction you need to be, because there is no turning around. These sections look a bit more generously sized.
