Todays job has been one for the scrap book, went out to Tilbury docks to help out with the demolition of a Dock crane that buckled when the jib collapsed, Ainscough are out in force with the LTM1800 and a LTM1500 along with a LTM1100 and me in my LTM1080 as support cranes. Did not do alot today but the real work gets going tomorrow, i'll take my camera tomorrow and get some better pictures....the ones below were taken on my phone so there quite small. Enjoy and i'll be getting quite a few more over the next few days. Gaz

Great pictures gaz!
How long does it take the riggers to get the LTM1800 set up? I saw it last year and it didnt seem to take that long.

i got a question for ya.... how come the rear mast attaches to the main boom like that at the 2nd section from the top instead of the top of the boom? this is different that crawlers?
i can only go off my models since i have never been around large cranes but shouldnt the rear mast attach to the top of the boom like the 18000, LR1750 and CC8800? again im only asking cause im looking at my models right now and thats how it is on them
does this mean that the LTM 1800 model derrick attaches in the same place at the real crane as well?

Mike , the guy who's driving the crane was showing me the load charts today.....with the derrick mast on it gets a bit complictated and i must admit he lost me in places but i do know the load charts where different when the derrick mast was attached to the 3 different places along the main boom.
The only thing i can think off is a tele boom is not as strong as a lattice one and if the mast was attached to the top of the boom the weight of the boom at radius could cause a 'concave' effect on the center of the boom....i may be wrong but thats the first thing a can think of.

does this mean that the LTM 1800 model derrick attaches in the same place at the real crane as well? First, the model is entirely accurate to the real crane: the pendants from the derrick attach at either telescopic section I, or at telescopic section II. The last telescopic section, with the boom head on it, is called section III. The bottom section doesn't have a name. These designations are from the Liebherr charts. Second, I don't know why they don't attach at section III. We'll have to defer to experts for explanation.

Plant room came down today, along with the whole back of the crane. Tomorrow the A-frame comes down, we've re-positioned the 500 so the two crane's can tandem lift a greater size bit of the top. Untill you get bored i'll keep them coming. Gaz
