I am no expert on these machines, but it looks like a crawler crane.

This is a demolition on monster, the Cat is a High-Reach machine, using a big tool as well, but I think the Kobelco has a meaner bite! I believe Craig (CaucasianAsian) is planning on making a model of this machine.

is this machine built from the ground up as a demo unit? or is it based on an excavator? or crawler crane?, and if kobelco can make this monster ,will they build larger excavators later down the road? or mining class machines? im asking a lot i know. ill just look at the pics. brian

I'm hoping "caucasianasian" will chime in as he seems the most knowledgeable on this company.

The photos are from a Japanese web site. She's a beauty though! Everything from the largest HRD to the smallest "sprinkler" excavator, the machines in the Nabekai fleet are impressive to say the least. - Chris

Guys, From what i remember reading a coupel of years ago. Nabekai asked Kobelco to build them that machine. Their whole fleet is Kobelco machine. The machine SK3500D use to hold the World Record for the Highest Reach. Which now will be handed to Euro Demolitions Cat 5110B Machine. Currently in the fit out stage in Holland. I think i read that Nabekai has asked Kobelco to build a Larger machine that the SK3500D. Maybe Remco from www.highreachdemolition.com could correct me if i am wrong. Hey Guys, Cat924Gz thanks for bringing this thread to my attention, I didn't catch it! Remko from HRD has a lot of info on Nabekai and their fleet. I know they have two Kobelco SK3500D machines, one in this three-piece boom configuration and another, which is the one that set the high-reach record. They also have an SK1600D and a few SK900DLCs. They also have a heap of Hitachis, mostly three-piece boom 850s plus they have at least one CAT 345CL and at least one Komatsu PC1250LC. The have a heap of other excavators from Kobelco, Komatsu, CAT and Hitachi, but the above are just the noteworthy ones. I really hope to get into making the SK3500D, but it all depends on $$$ as I will have to base it off a Liebherr crawler crane and they cost $$$! I think Remko might still be keen on doing a deal where I keep the u/c and body and he takes the rest. So I hope to start on it within the next couple of months. Cheers, Craig PS. Here are some pics. First two are of the two different configs, then a few of the assembly. Thanks to Matoko and friends for the pics!!
