Here are two pictures of a future 1/16th scale heavy haul truck model I want to build this fall. I found a few pics of it on the internet , but no side view of the whole rig. And no drawings. Does anyone know if there are any complete side views or drawings of this unique truck available?
Also has any toy companies made a toy of it in the past?

Looks like a few chops of my photos (based on the size and angles)....

http://www.oldengine.org/members/sbarr/Construction/euclid.htm

Go to Google, select maps and search for allens corners, il Select Satellite and you can see the size of it from the air next to a normal semi box trailer. you can still see one of the HD 41 Side Booms in front of it.

It is kind of hard to get a good side photo due to it being surounded by other equipment and trailers.

Hi Steve ,
Thanks,
Just wondering if anyone had any old pictures of it in use back in the day with different side views?

I don't know if it will help you but the truck is an Euclid 5LLD classified as a model R-62.

Thanks,
I guess if these are the only angles of it , it would make even more of a challenge to see if I could build it. Think

I think it is time for Bob Matthews to take a road trip...~8.5 miles from his house to the truck....He has one of those really fancy camers and I think the might get the job to paint the truck Black & Red if he talked really nice to the owners... Just think of how big that animal would have to be to fill the hood? (it is 34 miles from my work place and 47 from home).

Any additional old pics of it out in the open would be appreciated. I think I could make a very detailed 1/16th scale model of it. Does anyone know if anyone has made a scratch-built model of it so far in any scale?
Side views are very important in building all my models so I can see everything in proper proportion .

Danny,

Yes, the trailer is the old Hoffman trailer, though I believe it is a Talbert, not a Rogers. Hoffman used a Mack M100SX tractor to pull this trailer, and I don't think they ever actually owned this Euclid. Though they did own a pair of Euclids that were converted to tractors, but I believe they were different models.

Hoffman's Mack M100, one of only three built, still exists and is located in Queens, NY.

Maps.live.com has the aerial shot which shows some side views, not close though. What is the story with the yard? Some big equipment in there. The Wagner? scrapers, huge pieces that look like they were used with the big trailer etc....

Allen's was one of the "heavy haulers" along with White Brothers in the old days in the Chicago area. Both used a lot of Talbert trailers and built or modified equipment in their shops. Allen's also did recovery work. The Euclid was to be used to move a reactor for a new 30 mile atom smasher that was going to be built between Fermi Lab in Batavia, IL. and DeKalb, IL. Illinois lost the deal to Texas, but was never built.
Allen's buy's and sells the equipment you see in there yard, including a lot of military equipment.

Thanks again Ken and everyone ,
Now I have enough pictures to build the cool Heavy Haul Lowboy !
Any new additional pictures are also welcome .
Looks like it is going to use a pile of tires and rims though!
It ain't going to be a cheap toy , I can see that as you all know how pricy tires and rims are?

My biggest responese on my next few truck models seems to be this Euclid Heavy Haul Lowboy. Seems three people are very serious about wanting to buy it. That always makes the project even more exciting to build. Mike Degar is first on the list , so I will have to get the right combination for the different dia. tires for the whole rig before I can procede with a price on the truck to give him.
The thirty + tires are the concern for now, it almost looks like the inside rear steering frame also may have inside wheels underneath . Can't tell for sure if so or how many ?

I have decided to Build the Euclid Heavy Haul lowboy in the larger 1/12th scale after all . Because of the different tire sizes, those are the sizes that will work . It's going to be a good sized truck at around five feet long . That would put the price range at around $4,500.00 . So at that price, it may end up sitting in my living room holding up a large bowl of popcorn, ha,ha.

Don,
that trailer IS a Talbert, and was built for Huffman to move a reactor. it was painted green when new, and was rated at 600 ton, if i remember correctly. Calling or writing to Talbert Inc, would help you, as they have always been very helpful and friendly. I have only black and white photos, showing with the Mack mentioned before. All the best, Dan
