So, I am about to start my next model and I am having a tough time deciding if I should build the Liebherr LG-1750 or the Demag TC-2800.... I know you guys are diecast diehards, but I am a "Lego guy" so this model will be built out of plastic!!! My last truck crane was the Liebherr LG-1550...It was fair to average... I plan on putting a bit more time and effort into this build so hopefully it will be a bit more detailed than that one....I just cant decide which crane to build!!!! Give me some reasons either way for either crane...Help me decide!!!!!!!!!! Any help would be greatly appreciated... Thanks... -Alvin.

Thanks for the compliment.....not to step on your toes, but the plural of Lego is "LEGO" I have a few models... Liebherr LR-11200... Liebherr LR-1750.... Demag CC-8800 and all those plus the 1550... and finally the Terex-Demag CC8800-1 Twin.... You see that I have waaaaay too much free time and $$$$.....thats why I need another project... So what should it be...the 1750 or the 2800?????? -Alvin.

It is built to pin together just like the real machine, but I take it apart in larger sections to make re-assembling it much faster.. Thanks for the compliments! -Alvin.

Awesome work. How much does it cost you to build one of those cranes? Do you order parts direct from Lego? Jason NIkl Scale Models

I would go with the TC2800 sice you have the Liebherr LR1750 and the LG1550. Would be abit more variation in the collection! Oh btw very nice building!

Jason Jason, I try not to think about how much I spend on these models...I just build them! (Honestly, the Twin cost me about $5,000 or so.....OUCH!) The cool thing about them is when I get tired of a certain model, I can take it apart and use the beams and such to build another one! I order the parts from www.bricklink.com as the Lego Corp will not sell directly to the consumer..... Thanks for the compliments! -Alvin.

When you start building, couldnt you make a thread about how you do the drawings and such? Would be interesting to see how you do to know what type of bricks to use for a custom.

Thanks again for the compliments, guys...
I will start a thread when I begin on the next crane. Most of my design work is done in Corel Draw. I take the PDF of the spec sheet for the crane off of the Manufacturer's website and insert it into Corel where I can modify and scale it to "studs" (units of Lego measure). From there it is mostly trial and error on the actual build!!!
Be on the lookout for the post of the build in the next few weeks...
-Alvin.
