Could some one post pics on how this Massive Grader is Transported and broke down? It seams like an interesting process.

Thanks

24M's come from the state's complete. Only thing's that need to be fitted are the wheel's, Ripper and Blade.

This isn't a 24M, but it is a 24H fresh from a rebuild being shipped back to it's owner.

Wow, that's not much at all there Gav. I think you should be able to do it. Should make for a pretty nice set of pics when you do. Can you just let air out of the tires to get it down that much?

Thats the plan when i had to give some greenhorns some advice yestie!!!! plan b is just remove the front wheels and let it pivot down at the tandems, either way i will get some pics. Will be on an 8 x 8 Drake platform float (more for the length than the tonnage) and hauled by a very nice KW with 600 of Cats best up front.

Yeah You can Transport the Machine whole (Minus Blade) But They dont like to do long haul's like that. Spin the Beacon Mount sidways and off you go.

The last one shipped Had to be lifted by two crane's and lowered onto a Beam Lowboy so the height was pretty close.

Dont forget the Artic lock and Activate the Shipping lock on ET.

Not down here Rossco, it will go complete blade and all, it is only 60 ton afterall and thats nothing for Aussie floats. Our branch is about 25 klms from the heart of Sydney and it will go 200klms to the hunter valley.

Yeah the weight Isnt significant when we talk Mining equipment it's just the Blade is wide and would'nt be allowed without special permission.

You wouldnt believe the last Hassle with delivery.

I'm all for being safer at work, but that step arrangement is beyond rediculous. If you can't climb the excellent steps Cat puts on these new machines, you have no business getting out of bed, much less working in a heavy industry type job.

Don,t get me started Jerry, while i have no drama with safety related stuff i too have to question it based on this: In a 10 hour working day you may get out of the machine maybe less than 1% of that 10 hours, now say you are grading the other 99% of the time you can not see the cutting edge on the left side as it is impedded by the stepwork, now out of those 2 scenarios what is a grader exactly designed to do?!!

Here is how we do them, this is out of our Parramatta workshops 30 klms west of the Sydney CBD and headed 250klms north to the Hunter Valley coal mines. No need for a dolly as it only weighs 60 tons and the 8 x 8 Drake platform can handle that no worries.
