The front of the model seems to be lower than the back. (like on the 793D) Do the safety stairs go down that far on the real machine?

Really nice!
Although I like the looks of the 797B better than the F-series when it comes to the real stuff.

Wow, that thing looks great! Shame to read "The model is currently expected to be available early 2009." Surely even companies like Norscot would be pushing to get new models out before Xmas. Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

It worries me to see that they never got the inside of the RF tire in the picture. I hope they don't cheap out on the inside of the tire.

So far on that part of the model, I am quite pleased. The wheels look great the tires look great. Personally I was so disappointed with NZG's 797s because of their offerings in that area, and I anticipated the OHS conversion kits for years until OHS' vanishing from this hobby. I especially will be pleased if the tire finish on the production pieces have the same flat look as this prototype, rather than the typical glossy sheen of practically all Norscot tires. **I would think, given the trouble made over that 'wheel' problem last time, that it won't be made again hopefully. After looking through a couple of presentations on the 797F the ladder design does not have a platform at the bottom of the diaganol stairway at roughly the bumper level. It transitions straight to the powered access stairs at the exactly the same angle as what it is coming across the grill. Now there is a note there saying that it may change in production so maybe what we are seeing on the Norscot is correct. As for it coming down as far as it is in the pic, well it is a diecast model and i would think it does not come down that far on the real deal, in fact none of those stairs should touch the ground anyways because if there is a movement of the truck somehow and they are hard on the ground they will get bent.

Gavin,
You're right, the stairs definitely shouldn't touch the ground, but the 797F on display at MinExpo had the platform at the bottom of the stairs. That way, when the stairs get ripped off...and they will.....they can just stick a plain old rubber belt ladder on and call it good.

Oh Yeh, all these guys that got to go to Minexpo, i,ll just look at the pics!!!!!!!
In the hard rock jobs where i have been they certainly do make it easier for both operators and especially maintenance getting on and off.The extra maintenance that comes with them can sometimes be a headache. If you have seen some of where Brian works you know anything that hangs down is gunna get ripped off and maybe should just not be on there from the start.

Gavin, I think they have just badly posed the steps in the picture. Look closely at the treads on them and on the lower fold down part the treads are sloping away. Also if the angle is corrected to be the same as the main steps across the rad, then they will lift nicely off the floor and the treads would be level. Obviously they are missing a bump stop or two! I also suspect the Minexpo machine was the original as this also has the landing at bumper level. However, the handrails on the liftup section do look abit wierd. Digging out one of the minexpo photos that were posted here shows nicely what I mean.
