CAT793, I know you don't like the 994 for its million and one drive shafts, but that does seem to be a bit drastic! Makes major repairs easier, but I don't know how you would check the fluid levels

WOW! I have not seen that Bucyrus dragline pic before, what a mess! That A frame has been completely ripped out from the floor by the looks of things. Anyone know what caused the failiure of the structure?

I am still curious about the dragline. Why didn't it roll over instead of collapsing only one part? Great pictures, thanks!

Iwould also like to know the story behind the dragline. Seems a bit odd ??? the truck line up picture is familiar - I know the guy who took it as I was onsite......

The dragline is a Bucyrus 1370 (50-60CY) operating in Florida at a phosphate mine. Apparently there was a lack of inspection or maintenance on the a-frame mounts at the rear of the house. This was happened under normal operation and there was obviously a failure of the a-frame mounts.
As far as I know, draglines lack the power to lift something heavy enough for them to tip over. The mine was in the process of assembling another 1370 that came out of Indiana at the time this happened. They used the boom and parts off the Indiana machine to repair this one.
