Hey Bob. Mammoet is bringing a PTC to town. More specifically to the CITGO refinery in Lemont to work on the coke drum replacement project.

Not yet, later this summer. I will find out for sure at the pre job meeting tomorrow. I did however already get my hands on the manual for the PTC.

Lemont is about 45 minutes from my house, so we gather for the day, make up Mammoet hardhats and distribute Mammoet shirts, had down there and act as if we own the place!!

Just in case the hard hats and shirts do not work out. Perhaps we should take plenty of pizza with us. Maybe a dozen or so cookies too.

I heard a rumor that this project was going to be done by Deep South.

No, while Deep South and Lampson were both consider both lost out to Mammoet. Deep South lost out due to their crane not being very flexible. You would have to rearrange the counterweights for every lift and the idea of randomly grabbing a light load out of the question. Lampson fell out for two reasons; one is because of the amount of traveling the crane would have to do. The site is very tight and a long Lampson rig would not fit into the existing sit very well plus the amount of ground you would have to treat to support the rig is enormous. The second reason is the Lampson crane has the worst lateral wind rating.

I was a little off; the shutdown is not until next spring. There are 16 major lifts with the largest being 700,000 pounds (including rigging) at 268' from center of rotation.
