well, what can i say... one of my dreams has come true. As i live in ireland i never thought id get to see the worlds largest hydraulic excavators, but on my australian adventure one of the dhs members kindly invited me to his place of work to see these giant machines. my thanks goes to shaun for taking the time out from his working day, completing the paperwork for an official visit and taking me on a tour of the mine equipment. it really was a dream come true for me and ill value these pictures for ever. im very lucky as the site rules have recently changed and visitor only access is not possable untill site construction and infastructure is complete. here is the mighty machine. pictures do not do justice. the gravity of the machine towering overhead is amazing! can you see me below???

Allistairc123, this post made my day. What an excellent series of pictures of such an impressive machine! I'll also charge my beer at Shaun for going out of his way to help a fellow forum member. Big thanks to both! Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

That is very awesome, Next week I will begin building a 1/12th scale all steel model of this monster . I got to scoop rocks with a RH-200 and a 33 yard bucket and it was awesome. Ever since then I knew the day would come for me to build a 1/12th scale , one of a kind O&K Shovel. Leon from Va. requested a RH-400 so that is the model I am building next. I am very excited to build it.

I have a doubt concerning the Terex/O&K RH400. Did O&K built the RH400 before they were bought or became part of Terex? Or has O&K always been affiliated with Terex?

Allistairc123, 'Just a quick question. I notice you are wearing a mask of some kind in the RH400 photos, but not in the others. Why??? Great shots by the way! While on the subject of RH400s; Mining Magazine has a single page article on the electric unit at Anglo Platinum in the May issue on page 10. Please use this before clicking "post"??? You may be surprised with what you see!

Shovelman, The reason for the mask is that there is blue asbestos in the mining area.It is a company requirement that they be worn whilst in the pit. When the pics where taken of the loader and dumptruck the masks are not required to be worn in those areas.

Great photos Allistairc123! It looks like you had a great time all around. I like the HUGE warning area on the rear of that machine. I wonder what triggers the green light? - Chris

Awesome pics! If I only were into this hobby before my honeymoon Down Under! My gut says the Mrs. wouldn't have liked that....
1:1 or 1:50, I am still in awe.

The cab looks very disproportionate to the machine
