Wow this is really a nice model! It will go perfect with the large dragline.
How many of the forum members has bought the Bucyrus 8750?

In line with the recent 8750 posts here is the perfect addition to it from Bruce Birchall, all hand built cable reel attachment and the other extras speak for themselves. i will bet those NZG 988,s will go up in price now!
Thanks for popping them on Rod

That is an awesome custom model, looks very sharp in white. Excuse my ignorance but I'm curious, what would a cable like this supply a shovel like the 8750 with? Is the 8750 electric? Surely this is too thin to act as a power cable? Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

Thanks for the comments everyone. I made the cable reeler attachment out of brass and it is modelled on an actual machine that works at the Ulan Coal Mine in NSW where I used to work up until a year or so ago. The 988 reeler supported a marion 8050 dragline, Marion 204m and P&H 2300 Shovels and O&K mobile crusher.
The trailing Cables where about 6600volts as I recall and the dragline cable was about 100mm in diametrer.
This was a project that I had in mind for many years, but I finally got into action and completed it with the 8750 model coming out. Can't run a dragline without support gear!!

The 8750 is a electric machine and would have a similar cable, probaly of slightly larger diameter. The model I made has a slightly larger size "Scale" cable to the Ulan ones (hard to find a cable that looked good) so I guess it would be more or less the right scale size for the 8750 which the model cable reeler is now servicing.
