Yes! Very good HD, its NOT a steam shovel. Maybe there is some hope for you after all. Call me if you have any questions when you get there, I will help you along. I'll be at the boars nest, just ask for Jeff.

Sorry, but your way off, a 666D/E Was the size of a 365, (that was posted on this forim a while back) so that means a 1066 was AT least a 385, but most likely bigger. Making the 1166 and 1266 5110/1250 size if I remember correctly and the 1466 probably the size of a 5130, give or take. I'm sure I am off on one or two, but I think I am much more in the neighborhood. You don't realize how big the old Koehrings are until you are next to one.

The 1466 weighted 150 ton, the 466 was a 1 yard machine. The 6644 weighed 49 ton that was about the size of the 245, that machine came with a 2 yard bucket, I was setting 72" pipe with it. The 1066 came out with a 3 yard bucket and 52 feet of reach. The old machines were rated by a struck bucket not a heaped bucket. The 866 I ran was bigger than the 365, but I don't remember what it weighed, we moved it from Houston to College Station in on piece, I know it was over weight because we moved it on a Sunday morning, 1 guy driving the lowboy, 1 guy picking up wires and 1 guy swinging the machine around the corners, and a couple beers along the way. Brian, I think Holloway had 3 1466's and dug I - 696 out with 2 of them. digger

Dan,

I remember seeing the Koehring sitting at the Woodward Ave./I-696 intersection (it sat there for quite awhile), but I did not realize that machine was a 1466. I always thought it was a 1266. Ric-Man still has his Koehring 1166 and it is currently sitting off of I-94 Eastbound, just south of the M-59 enterance/exit ramp by Selfridge ANG, where they are doing some tunneling work for DWSD. I just saw it there today.

diggindanhoe & Ajax Man. i have to agree with Ajax Man on the Holloway dan. i have an old video of the 1266 of Holloway on I-696 job. Ajax Man- Ric-Man has one 1166 and has(had) three 1066. one had bigger boom cylinders and bigger c'weight added to handle larger pipe. not sure if any are used anymore. the one on I-94 has been sitting forsome time. By the way, I love ALL the pictures posted. DanielD.

DanielD,

Ric-Man bought two brand new Cat 385C's in 2007 when they had the 1st watermain and sewer seperation contract along Gratiot Ave. in Lenox Twp, MI and I believe that they traded in the 1066's for the new Cat's. The one Cat 385 is set-up as a heavy lift arrangement and the other is set-up as a deep sewer, it has the 32' reach boom with either a 14 or 18' stick (I couldn't tell, the stick was hidden behind one of the crawler cranes) I believe both 385's are on the I-94 job also....

A 385 is a bigger machine than a 1066, Not by much though. A 1266 can weigh about 265,000 lbs depending on year and set-up... They were very heavy machines.
