All cat loaders used to be Traxcavators then the name fell away from wheel loaders and only the Track loaders kept it, I think it was dropped from the wheel loaders in about the mid 60's I think the 966B was the last. 966A ridgid frame, 966B articulated

The 993K looks great but the wheel rims are way to small. I resized them by 20% in this picture and it looks much better IMO. Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

the 993K runs on 50x65R51 bridgestone or Michelin depending on application which scales out to half the height of the machine to the top of the ROPS, which is 6000mm. Edge to edge of the rim is 30.5mm in diameter.

Thanks for the info, Huey9. Regards. Max.
Cat 245.....Now and Forever I am looking for industrial auction brochures from Ritchie Bros, Miller & Miller, Forke Bros, First Team Auction, Max Rouse, etc from the 70's, 80's and 90's.I am a collector and heavy equipment enthusiast and these pamphlets are loaded with nice pictures of cleaned and freshly painted equipment.Thet don't have much value once the sale is over but they are a great help to me in preserving the memory of machines that are no longer being built. Please, help my hobby by looking in your old storage boxes and file folders for these old auction sale brochures.Your help is much appreciated.

Another question in regards to Norscot's 'new' 784 towhaul. Why did mine arrive last week in a standard norscot box with cat marking, yet I have seen a picture of one in a blue and black box with towhaul markings? Why the different boxes?

Here is how I think the 993K should look: As for the TowHaul, I would imagine if you bought it from Cat, it would have a Norscot box, and if you bought it from TowHaul, it would have a TowHaul box.

I still think the original of this pic is a preproduction pic and the inside rim detail will be corrected to the right size, also the front opening above the diff centre should be closed in.

If that´s what the 993K will look like, it won´t be worth the 180$ they sell it for in Germany.

Why is "phonetically" spelt with a "ph"?

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

First of all, I am willing to bet my dog that the 993K will not look like the one above (as in tires). Secondly, that D7E looks amazing! I have a space all ready for it on my desk, right next to my mini-scale Norscot D7E. Great job yet again Norscot! - Chris

Did somebody switch the rims for norscot on the 613G? The photo I saw from IMCATS the drivers were on the back and the idler wheels were on the front.

Max, I think ''Traxcavator'' was a trade name from the company that Cat originally took over, It was in the late 50's I think.

That 966 looks good I just hope it has full range of motion , not like that 977 they made , That 993 power edge scheme looks UGLY but that goes for all the large (990 on up) loaders

We usually think of tracked machines but Traxcavator was a name brand of the Trackson Company who I am assuming Caterpillar bought out. Someone can correct me if Im wrong. I watched a lot of Cat 966 Traxcavators when I was a kid. Wish this model had the cab version. It looked nice. Why is it that Norscot cranks out a whole mess of models every year and CCM is taking forever to come out with the 235 excavator and shovel version. Im sure it will be worth the wait however. The venerable 988 is an excellant model

Hello Max, in 1951 Cat bought Tracson, who supplied accessory options for their equipment. Their Traxcavator trademark that Cat bought, badged their early rubber tyred loaders with the Traxcavator brand name.
