Here are some pictures of a liebherr P996 aka Dredge new york Went there today and they werent working, i will try to see if they are working tomorrow...





You can clearly see this thing is massive with the person standing next to the bucket.

Great pictures Vinny, that thing is HUGE! Are there other dredges setup like this or is this the only one?

Only 2 Liebherr P996 pontoon-mounted backhoes are currently in service in the world.A third P996 called the 'Tauracavor' sunk while on tow in the open ocean a few years back and was salvaged but I do not think it was ever "revived" so to speak!!The sister to the 'New York' is called the 'Pinnochio' and is currently working on the harbour widening/deepening project in my hometown of Durban,South Africa.It is owned by DEME/Dredging International.I have many pics of this particular excavator if anyone is interested.

Rowan,

DonJon Marine Services also owns and operates a Liebherr 995 dredge in the area. I've caught it a few times, but only managed to grab this picture. Just what happens at the office....
