That looks nasty! Was the operator okay as it looks like the boom was awfully close to the cab.

Luckily no-one was hurt in the accident. It said that the wind speed was increasing extremely fast and that's probably how it happened. What you see in the pictures is actually the jib, and a part of the telescopic boom that smashed the cab . Also the windmill propeller was falling down and crashed to a complete mess... http://www.tvr-news.de/detail2.asp?tpk=3705

As long as nobody was hurt, then no problem. But, it sure didn't take long for one of those to fall over. Cranes...sheesh.....lol.

That Boom part looks like came very close to doing a real number on the cab. I was unable to view the photo larger.... Time to fire the weather forecaster... In the pics above it looks to me from what can be seen that the cab did take some major damage.
In the photo where the guy's head is (all too conveniently perhaps?) in the way, you can see the railing and if I'm not mistaken, the cab ceiling usually is higher than that, but doesn't appear to be so in that pic.

Still lots of room .. I saw a 900E cab that was 10 inches thick and the guy had the upper works glass in his shorts .....Way to close ... That dent just makes a guy want a beer..or two ..possibly the box ...

Yeh but surely that would cause the metal around the tear to bend but looking at the pictures again it looks like a fracture, almost like a compound fracture in a bone!
Im not a crane guy at all but something just doesnt seem right to me!
