Well I have got to see one up much closer than the typical several hundred feet.....it's a brute. Many of you have seen this one already, if you've seen RedjackRyan's post on it. But there are some more orange giants lurking around, that I can hopefully get some snaps of. Also got up close to the Euc R260. First time I've ever been around a diesel electric drive large haul truck. Man the turbos whine on them and the sound they make retarding as they go down slope is cool. A neat truck to see operate and certainly seems a bit larger than the 793 in overall size. This is a nice montage, depicting my absolute favorite mining truck....that is until I see the big 797 in person. And lastly; the Indiana railway is new to me (past 8 or so years). I don't know how long they've been around but I love the paint scheme and the fact that they are a native outfit. Anyway I hope to see more of these locos pulling coal loads out of the fields here in the upcoming years. Chris

I remember when the Indiana got those units. Everybody was trying to get shots of them. It's rare for a small regional to buy new power like that.

Speaking of the Indiana Railway SD90, MTH makes them in both powered and non-powered O guage 1/48. http://www.mthtrains.com/content/20-20028-1

Cool.....will have to look into those. As of Friday this was the first I had seen of these. Here where I live they are using GP38s or something very similar, so the bigger units were a treat. Rail activity around here has been nearly extinct over the past decade or more but there is yet some life left. Chris

Here's one of the ones working around here. It's great as it has a remote operating system. Watching the engineer utilize it as he's off and on the loco turning switches and such is like watching the ballet......artful.......better perhaps skilled! By the way here's the R260......can't believe I didn't post this yesterday. Chris

Sorry to have this turned into a train thread. Lot's of people see the remote conrtolled locomotives as just another way of eliminating jobs. I have seen the remote controlled locomotive do just that in the steel mills. I have heard engineers say that running a loomotive by remote takes away all of the feel. As with everything there is always good and bad. On another note here is a shot of Norfolk Southern dash-9s that have seen better days.

It's suprising to see an SD-90MAC......around here and in Indiana where i've operatedwith Norfolk Southern i've seen either Dash 8's or AC 4400w's......both are nice

I wonder how those caught on fire like that......must have been vandalism

Excellent photos, Chris! It's really neat to see the giant equipment operating right near a county road. If you think the R260 retarders whine, you should hear R190's! Did you get any photos of the 2550?

That is for sure not a really nice paint scheme at all !!! The Frenchman

Yep, they sure are Brockman 4's had these delivered along with the 3600, L-1850 and 830's with more on the way. When you say "any more" of West Ange's 55's do you mean on top of the one's I posted at HEF or have you not seen them? I only have 1 or 2 more than what was posted over there, either way, I can post here if you want. Just let me know! For now, here's one of West Ange's EX5500's, not it's best look!
