So Mr Mammoet himself (Bob), Jules and I took a little drive today to go see the PTC... boy oh boy what a site it was, we were no more than 100ft away from it, i could have practically reached out and touched it we were that close, this thing is a monster and the model is dead nuts to the real machine!!

im only posting a teaser picture as Bob has some better pictures and ill let him do all the talking as he was the man with the plan today

ENJOY!!

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

Glad to see my little heads up came in handy. I’m in Chicago (Naperville) this weekend visiting family and forgot all about it.

You one lucky damn to see this crane, dude. Really one of the highest goals in a crane fan's life is probably to see the PTC in real lifeSmile More than that, I can not sayApplause

I feel fulfilled!! The PTC adventure this morning was a grand success! Thanks to Zach and Jules for coming along!

When we got there we passed along the front of the place and the PTC was at the back, with just its luffer standing high and no place to stop for a shot. So I did a little scouting and found a side road that looked promising, and then I found a back road that looked like it would take us right there, if it was open and not under guard!!

So I snapped a three shot "continuation" picture:

And then I decided to go for broke and went down the road anyway!!!

Then I put the 300mm telephoto lens to get some close ups:

And the picture of the darn blocks that gave all us modelers a headache!!

She is a beast!

And here we are!! (pic by Julie)

And a few to finish it out:

Security did stop by and asked what we were doing. I pointed to my Mammoet shirt and hat, explained that we collect models and I have this exact crane in my living room and we just had to see it as it was here all the way from Holland. He was like that is cool and drove off!

A great adventure!!

Think , how lucky is it that you drive down there to see a PTC and get that close, WHILE its performing a huge lift? i dont think anyone can top this post, atleast not for a while at least, well jason and plumber did spot the 21000 though, its about a tieApplause Applause

Tie hell !! Thanks Brandon, But i think Bob, Jules and Zach snapped the photos of a lifetime. Truly kick ass shots. You guys are lucky. Great pics! Those road trips are sure fun when you have someone else to enjoy the experience with. Thats truly the biggest crane I have ever seen. By the way Brandon, don't sell yourself short, some of your shots from the Manitowoc yard are just as amazing as my friend. I'd give anything to see that yard up close!

Can you imagine that i have seen quit a few times ptc's at the Huisman and Mammoet yard in Rotterdam and i did not even took pictures of it.
It's a funny world i am happy if i see an old school 100 ton crane and takes loads of pics of it.
But i have to agree it's huge and impresive.

(Mayby i need to swop houses for a few months with a forum member in the us so i can take pictures from old americans and the other person can go to the Rotterdam every day.)

Isn't it just great when an impromptu road trip ends in fruition!?

Although cranes aren't my particular area of interest; who could not be impressed by this unit.

Thanks to both of you for posting the photos at a sensible size and number. This forum software seems to accept large amounts of images when they are broken up into different threads instead of being put all in one.

Please use this before clicking "post"??? You may be surprised with what you see!
