What mode is it ? Is it only for fireworks ? I have a newer digital Canon Rebel. Some times I get fantastic shots.. ...some times crap.

Those came out exceptionally well. Bravo! I've always suspected some of the more spectacular Internet firework pics received a bit of help from PhotoShop - if they weren't total digital constructions period. Then again, digital cameras may be able to handle that difficult combination of a subject in motion that needs to be frozen with minimal lighting conditions.

But my experience with fireworks stuff has been taking twenty to thirty second exposures at F/12-F/18. Works exceptionally well, but for the background, yes PS helps a LOT.

Yes it is only for fireworks, as a matter of fact that is what it is called, I tried taking a few pictures with it in daylight just to see what it would do and they were just really bright white. I can't really suggest anything for the good/bad photos dilema I have the same issues depending on lighting. http://photobucket.com/cat627g equipment pics. theres nothing like the smell of asphalt in the morning!

Those snaps are quite nice. It certainly helps to have a dedicated function for fireworks. I think my wife's Cybershot has this ability. Chris

My new Canon has a mode specifically for Fireworks and it works out pretty well. Here are a few images I took with it. Hope you enjoy them! WOW!!!!!!That is just incredible!!! Very well done! Two thumbs way up and a wheel barrow full of cookies! It all starts with an inspiration from someone some where... I started shooting fireworks when i was in highschool (30 years ago) with a 35mm Minolta camera and 64 ISO rated speed slide film... Good job!
