Last week I was at a harbor/workshop/factory-whatever thingy where they build special gantry cranes etc for oil rigs. TC 1200 had been there for a few months assembling them, and loading them on a ship. This day they lifted the main beam on one of them. Enjoy the pics.

This TC 1200 is an ex. Sarens unit, made 1975 and still fully active at Havator. It is the 3rd unit made, which is the last one with 10x10m outrigger base, all further units were made with 12x12m

A funny fact about this crane is that the whole superstructure is "pushed" a bit to the right side (when seen from rear). I don't remember exactly, but it had to something to do to give space for the wire drum for the A-frame wire (kinda complicated). This is of course compensated with a little less counterweight on the left side.

thats weird about the superstructure and how the left side has slightly less weight than the right side..... in theory wouldnt that put the crane out of balance?

Since the left counterweight is fitted a little further out (sideways) than the right one, it gives exact balance.

Edit: Fixed the missing pictures

Thanks for the brief history on the TC 1200. Nice color scheme and it would make a sweet model... Applause Applause

Looks good for a old crane, great pics.
1 stupid question what does the "bred last" mean?
