So I finally got a chance to unpack and assemble my Bucyrus 8750 that I brought home from the DHS open house. This was the only model I brought home from the show, mostly because of complete lack of space Back of the truck showing it completely full of the 2 boxes for the model. Box 2 (with boom and tri-structure) inside the apartment. Box 1 (with machinery house) still inside the truck. Unpacking Box 2 - top level with the tri-structure. Unpacking Box 2 - mid level with the top half of the boom. Unpacking Box 2 - bottom level with the tri-structure. Unpacking Box 1 - top with hardware and small bits. Unpacking Box 1 - machinery house packing exposed Unpacking Box 1 - footprint of the machinery house with a BE 22B model for comparison. Also a random packet of dessicant silica gel, obviously thrown in by Ulf & Co. in an effort to poison me. (Do not eat!) More photos to come... - Alex

Sweet. I wish I had the money for that. I've been thinking of saving for it, just didn't want to shell out the cash just yet.
Live it up!

Here are more photos of the progression. Tri-Structure compared to the BE 22B backhoe. BE 22B next to the boom. Machinery house is out of the box. This shows where the lifting strap is tied at the front of the machine. The lifting strap at the back end of the machine. Backlegs have been installed into the house and bolted. Tri-structure installed and connected. The boom comes in 2 pieces and connects together with 8 screws. The butt section has an opening at the bottom through which it is lowered onto the boom foot pins, then when the boom is raised it locks it into place. Here is my assistant for the evening. This model is definitely a 2-person operation to assemble! It's a very simple assembly, but it is big and heavy. And here I am. I will post more photos tonight. The ones I took last night are too dark for my liking. -Alex

Very impressive! I'm not even sure the new Rotran Ulf Construction recently "acquired" will help with that baby. Stupendous!

You're gonna need a bigger house. Now what are you gonna do with it? I see a diorama taking over your garage or a sunroom built off the back with about 30 yards of sand to play in.

thanks for sharing this phenomenal model! someday, when i sell my kidneys I will have one, p.s. wheres the wee 22b? she didn't get stomped on?
Why is "phonetically" spelt with a "ph"? ... It's better to be silent and thought a fool, then to speak up and remove all doubt The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

Thanks for the comments guys. As promised, here are some photos of the model fully assembled. 8750 dump height compared with Shield-Bantam C-35's range. 785D haul truck is on the lower table with the Australian CQMS "Hurricane" Bucket. The BE 22B reappears. Closer look next to the C-35. That is one heck of a tall tri-structure tower! And closer. Look out below! Left side. The two holes on the side behind the walking mechanism are where the keys go to operate drag and hoist functions. Front view showing the support structure under the table so it wouldn't sag. (or break) Also shows where my LEGO Marion 8900 dragline model in 1:44 is currently sitting. I'll post more photos after dinner. -Alex
