This weekend, a bridge in Oldham, nr Manchester, UK was demolished. It has been there since about 1890 (so I was told) and will make way for a new tramway which will run at ground level.

Sections were burned away and lifted. The final piece was one of the large sides. Everything was cut up for scrap. The crane is Ainscough's old 1000Tonner.

Why is "phonetically" spelt with a "ph"?

... It's better to be silent and thought a fool, then to speak up and remove all doubt

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.

Yes- someone said they were going down to London after this job. I went on Sat lunch, and afternoon. I went to a BBQ and returned there at 10pm and stayed to watch the last lift until 1.30 am. Back there at 6am - I didn't need to be there so soon as it turned out. I stayed until about 11am and went back for an hour when the lowloader showed up.

For now, I will be selling them world wide exclusively. I may seek out a European dealer in the near future though

Great pictures Tim, I didn't know that the LTM1800 was a 1000t crane? Or has this particular machine been modified / upgraded?

I beleive it's only a 1000 tonner when the derreck boom is fitted.

The later LTM1800s were also available as the LG1550 with a latice boom. But there is also an LTM11000 designation around which is also an 800 metric ton telescopic machine and a 1000 ton lattice machine with derrick inserted. Anthony at one time had the complete LTM11000 package with both booms. After the first job or two, they sold the telescopic boom and retained the latice. The crane today is with Maxim.

Maybe some else knows more about the evolution of the this machine as from published materials there appears to be what I would call an LTM1800/LG11000 variant as well as the LTM1800/LG1550 varriant. That is a significan different in lattice ratings. This one I need assistance on.
