Hi Guys... long time no post... When I first bought my CC8800 few years back I had an idea in mind: Make a custom paint of it. I saw Christian doing his Japenese version, Some collectors from Europe doing Sarens (now conrad did it), some American did the Marino version and BobM convert his to a MammoetTeeth ... Now what left for the Canadian... You bet the Sterling version. I got the pictures of the CC800 Sterling

Then I had to find decalques and time to do the conversion... Like the past 2 years were buzzzy at the job I finaly found a pro of decalques and get some time to start the conversion of my CC800 to the great Sterling livery. Even if it's not complete yet a want to share some pictures afer several gasket remover, primer and paint empty cans....

I have to paint the numerous weights the tracks and some pins and cylinders... But so far I'm really pround of the center track with the letters in it...

The model

the real machine

Sterling has the only CC8800 on a permenant base on Canadian soil, She Works in Fort McMurray and they never use a luffing jib on It

Enjoy... I have some couterweight to paint

UPDATED*******

I put some part together but I have to wait for the mast as I have to paint the tracks. Like I want to give to them a rust finish I keep that paint job for the last (new proces for me)

So here is the result so far.. I also add some Sterling models with the CC8800

More to come

Hey heavyload,I know that picture very well, I was on that job (for Suncor), I was there at 4AM when we got all the rigging together to set those cokers in Fort Mc Murray. That was back in 06... I watched that lift go up all day. Missed sitting in the jump seat because I didnt attend the pre-lift meeting. They had it the day before the lift. I've got probably a dozen other pics of that lift. I put them on here...but that was a long time ago.

The second picture, was that at Voyageur or at Kearl Lake?

Kudos on the re-paint. I was going to repaint mine but I'm not the most skilled at it so I'll pass and admire yours... hope to see more pics all rigged in.

Sterling passed on the luffer for it.... They concentrate on the heavy lifts.

looks really good man! back when i got my CC8800 i was going to repaint it into Sterling as well but didnt know much about repaints and BobM was the paint guru.... so i went with Mammoet cause he knew everything to do and how to do it.... that is one livery i wish i could do again if i ever came into a spare CC8800, really like their livery

Nice work on your continuing repaint. It gives real encouragement to those of us contemplating that job. The Ft. McMurray pic was one of the first times I'd ever seen the 8800. It showed up on the Forum not long after I initially signed up. Think

Nicely don on the repaint! The CC8800 is a great crane to work with, as long as you are not intimidated by the sheer volume of parts!! Good job!
