Hi guys. I headed to the old National Stadium of Singapore today that is slated for demolition to have a look at this rare crane in Singapore Skyline. It is a Demag CC2800 from Tiong Woon Crane and is just 2 years old. Assembling it was a Demag AC1600 that has seen its better days. After conversing with some of the crew members, i learned quickly that Tiong Woon had actually preferred Demag over Liebherr for certain reasons which i will explain later.

Here is a quick specifications about this crane and the configuration.

Crane Type
================

Demag CC2800

*Max. 600T capacity at 10m radius

*45t/m^2 of pressure on foot of tracks at maximum load

*Approximately 60% Hydraulics and 40% Electrical systems. (Info from operator)

================

Configuration used
================

*SSL/LSL configuration

*90m boom consisting of heavy boom and light boom.

*Derrick boom(Superlift) setup with ballast(Superlift Counterweight)

*600t hook

================

Load
================

100t section of Stadium's spotlight structure. They will be cut into 100t/piece sections and lifted down.

================

Operator's comment
================

*Prefered Demag over Liebherr due to operation "feel"

*Easier to diagnose problem compared to Liebherr due to lesser electrical parts

================

Okay now is time for pictures!

*The "Demag or Liebherr" preferability is based solely on individuals particularly operators. It is a debatable comment. Please refrain from putting comments on this topic.

Thanks! Hehe. A very funny answer: The AC1600 has seen its better days and it cant reverse on its own. The Scania 143 is there to tow the AC1600 in reverse to move it to another part of the site. Poor AC1600, but it is funny. The company gonna repair it soon.

Thanks for sharing, I hope you can also get some lift pictures. Pics of a AC 1600 being towed are also nice!
Did you find out where their CC 8800 is working now? Still in India? And where's their CC 6400????

Greed isn't going anywhere. They should put that up on a billboard across Times Square!

Thanks for the comment!

Sorry guys, for the late update! Been busy with my part-time job since last week. Had no time to edit and upload the pics. But well, now they are here! These pictures were taken last week, a day after the first few pics were posted. The crane's boom is now fully erected in 90m. Smiley

Comparison between the two..

excellent shots there! really clean and crisp! thats a sweet ac1600

Why is "phonetically" spelt with a "ph"?

... It's better to be silent and thought a fool, then to speak up and remove all doubt

The complex of Newgrange was originally built between c. 3100 and 2900 BC,[2] meaning that it's aproximately 5,000 years old. According to Carbon-14 dates,[3] it is more than 500 years older than the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt, and predates Stonehenge by about 1,000 years.
