I went to visit my friend at the weekend he builds models mostly from odds and ends he comes across most of it being JUNK .
Cabs are mostly bought in as are many of the loads but the Truck chassies and most of the trailers have been scratch built .
His latest fetish is buying dead cranes on ebay stripping them and repainting them in long lost crane company liverys .
Though this has now progressed into building model cranes from scratch .

I hope they are of interest.

Yes great stuff there for sure.

Sounds like your friends approach is quite enjoyable to him and I could see why.

What a great way to make use of some dis-guarded or damaged models. He appears to be quite a talented builder / painter.

PS, what model is this?.........

This is excellent Applause

And I can't believe my eyes because in the very first picture is the bottom half of a P&O Volvo F88/89(?) and my dad used to drive a 4x2 version in exactly the same livery for P&O.

Do you by any chance have a better picture of it?. Although it's a 6x4 it would be fantastic to see it.

Cheers.

DWW,

I fully support GusO statement above: wonderful heavy haulage scratchbuilds/chops!

I'm particularly interested in 2 sets displayed in the wall cabinet: one is the Magnaload convoy made of old Scheuerle modular trailers loaded with the GEC blue vessel, the second one is the 2x6-line 300 ton Crane-Fruehauf girder trailer in Pickfords livery.
Would it be possible to get closer pictures of these ?

Many thanks.
Guy

That is a fantastic assortment! Very nice models, no junk there! I really like that girder trailer on the top shelf, but they all look so nice. Thanks for the great post,

The cabs are ASAM , Moorhouse, corgi , what ever he can find . wheels and tyres are bought in but the chassies are mostly scratch built from metal blind tracks . or curtain parts . other bits come from welding rod and what ever is to hand .

I will have a look to see if I have other photos.

The Magnaload Scheuerle is modified Corgi moduler bogie that has a metal top put on it and metal curtain rod down both sides simple but effective.

The girder trailer is all scratch built from I cant remember how many differen thundreds of parts .
