Hey, I just bought a Joal Komatsu PC1100 and I was wondering what the difference is between the two Komatsu excavators because I'd like to make a 1:50 scale PC1250 using the PC1100. I have the PC1250 spec sheet but the PC1100 spec sheet is not available from the Komatsu website. Externally they seem to be almost identical, save the decals and the odd minute detail here and there. Any info/pics would be greatly appreciated; I'll make a separate thread to document the transformation. Cheers

Caucasianaasian has done a bunch of 1250's. The main physical modification is the cab which can be swapped from a number of the newer smaller models. I also uploaded the Komatsu PC1100LC-6 PDF file for you. Lots of pics of his conversions at his website -> http://picasaweb.google.com/craigmwattshttp://www.megaupload.com/?d=WK6RHRZ4Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

Thanks Rowan - big help. The 1250 looks great, but I also really like the 1100 with a slightly shorter stick and bigger bucket, as in the PDF file.

No worries Davie, the short stick / bigger bucket are on the SP model (which I believe stands for Super Production). Good luck with the project and let us know how you get on with it. Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

Davie82 - from what I can see, the biggest difference is the addition of two air intakes on the engine cover, and the fact the counterweight is about 4-5mm or 3/16" longer, or if you will, bigger swing radius. This would account for the higher weight, and new model number. I have a real one to look at this time and the spec sheet, as you to compare with the model. Good luck with your conversion - DanielD

Do you need any pics of a real PC1250 as I have several you can use.
