Anyone noticed just how good our little hobby is at the moment, i'm talking dirt & cookie. Every time I log onto the internet and browse through my various favorite sites there seems to be so much happening. The toy fair and model show with pictures all the new releases and what to expect in the future. YCC's offerings of the old Gottwald models, the AMK1000 1st followed hopefully by the AMK500 and the Krupp KMK500 has got me really stoked about the more 'classic' crane models that years ago would have been unthinkable as a 1/50 replica. Hopefully more manufactures will follow suit.

Conexpo and all the pictures and information coming from there....I just don't know where to look next. I heard from a friend today that it is at all possible that Liebherr might (this is a rumor so might not happen) announce the details of the new LTM1750 9.1 at conexpo this week. The Manitowoc 31000 model has blown me away and I simply can't wait to get it. I've got the SGC120 on order too so that is two massive models to sit along side the PTC coming this year.

The only downside to all this is my poor wallet! with the SGC120, M31000 and Gottwald AMK1000 i'm parting with just over 4k already and thats without the likes of the HN krane LTM11200, Mammoet coke drum and WSI's reactor and beam HH offerings!

I hope work is busy this year....more overtime please Ainscough, i'm going need it!

Its off Bowmachine forum mate, it is someones take on what it might look like. However it is not far of what we'll be seeing. Info I got is that it will only have a 62m boom to keep the weight down on the carrier but it will be a very strong heavy lift boom, if a longer boom is required it will be made up of lattice work. I don't think people realise how close this crane is to making a appearance.

Ainscough are just starting to get busier, find myself working more weekends and night shifts recently so hopefully my dream of owning all the previous mentioned models will be realised Smile.

I find myself working very hard to sustain this hobby mate, I make a rule that half my overtime every week goes into models, some weeks its a good amount, other times I get nothing. Seems to work at the moment but it is looking like the most expensive year to date!

No question Gaz it is gainning Steam..I think the kicker was the CC8800 .as far as cranes go, this model reliased what can be possible. The boom on the CC8800 was ground breaking..not only was the CC8800 the first large scale model ...it was the first time lattice boom segments of this size were shot with detail.

And since then ..the technology to produce this crane is being used to make other fine pieces...even dirt equipment..

So everytime a dirt guy gets a fantastic model in the mail ..they can all thank the crane guys..

Well said Gaz, I still think that we are extremely lucky to have anything available for us really, it's a pretty unique hobby and has escalated a long way from the basic promo models of the past. Lots of things happening in the 1:1 world too, interesting times on the board!
