I know most everyone is thinking about dirt right and springtime right about now, but up the road from me in the Sierras there's over 700 inches of snow! Snow removal equipment galore! I hope winter never ends...

Good stuff... That last one is great. I didn't realize the latest plow designs were so curved over like that.

DPD1, yes they have been like that for a couple decades now as the design with the hanging rubber skirt like that keeps the snow from rooster tailing out from the front and making it impossible for the driver to see (white out conditions for driver even on a windless day).

As the plow goes the snow curls over onto it self off the curve and the skirt and basically forces the snow down and stops that light blowing snow effect from the plow, still get a good rooster off the heel if the plow though (the big end).

When I plowed snow in Maine on the Air Base I was at we would go about 55 down the runway and the snow would fly out from in front of the plow and blow back into the windshield and if you were in what they called a congo line you'd get from the truck in front of you and your own plow and it was very dangerous because you'd lose visibility very fast!!

Nice pics of all that frozen sunshine, this is the ONLY thing I like about snow is having the fun with the toys!!!

I'm a kid at heart, so I will play with any model construction vehicle from 1:87 scale to 1:1 scale!!!!

Age is a state of time NOT a state of mind!!

Those are incredible photos alright. I drive that road a few times a year and know what a great job those guys perform.

The RR is also bringing out their heavy stuff. First use of rotary snowplows here in 13 years.

I heard the UP RR was bringing up the big blower. A friend of mine was able to snap shots of it coming out of the yard, but no action shots. Just some seeing that beast in action.
