I have been fascinated by these machines. I wanted to add one that was being erected on my future train layout. But since finding this forum I have become very interested in the Mammoet PTC, and the dragline has taken a back seat.

Over the course of the next couple of Wednesdays, I will be posting some of the information that I have collected on the neat machines.

First, will be a brochure from Page that covers models: 736, 752, and 762.

After that there will be stuff from Bucyrus-Erie and Marion.

There are modelers here who skill far exceeds my own, so I would like to enable those who model walking draglines (like 9wbucyrus) to keep on modeling with some of the information that will be presented here.

Let me know if you would like me to continue this thread.

Yeah keep it going......I'm interested to see what you come up with if you decide to go ahead with the build of the dragline.

Tom,

You wouldn't happen to be the same Tom from Southernrailfan would you ? If so I had no idea you were also a heavy equipment nut. Heck yeah post your progress.

tomd,

Welcome to the DHS Discussion Forum ! Very informative first post.

Since you are new to the forum and perhaps to collecting construction models, you might not be aware that Classic Construction Models has produced two (2) walking draglines for the collector:

Marion 7200:

Bucyrus Erie 4250 (Big Muskie):

Since you did not mentions what scale your model railroad is in HO or O, I have included both models above: the Marion 7200 is 1:48 and the Big Muskie is 1:87. Unfortunatley both models will be difficult and expensive to obtain.

Rgds,

Ps. Don't know if the DHS Forum supports 'Groups', but a dragline group would be awesome!
