Bigge is assembling one of the AFRD cranes in Kingman, Arizona for testing . Anyone in the Northern Arizona/Las Vegas area care to take a road trip for the rest of us? Not sure exactly where but it is by the airport, probably not hard to see. I saw pictures of the boom sections and slewing bogies from a couple weeks ago, it is huge.

I am told that the boom sections are being fabricated in Phoenix by Schuff Steel

Had an interesting conversation regarding this machine with a former Bigge employee recently

I understand that it will be along the lines of the lines of a steel errector's derrick as much as a crane. The testing will be done at the customer's site as opposed as at a Bigge facility.

From what I learned, it should be interesting.

All boom on super cranes comes apart... The chords and lacing are pinned/bolted etc together, its easy to take apart and transport / reassemble.
