Stopped by this job today to take a few pics, was surprised they had a Manitowoc 16000 sitting on a barge there. They have a few other cranes there such as Link-Belts, and a Manitowoc 999. Anyway they are building a new bridge which costs $63 million, it will carry about 23,000 vehicles a day. The bridge is estimated to last about 100 years. There is an old bridge right next to it which was built in 1954, it will be demolished after this new one is finished in July 2012. So far they have installed 100 segments of 361. The company is who is in charge of this is Reed And Reed.

The 999's block and whipline.

Each Concrete segment weighs about 60 to 70 tons and measure about 10 feet by 40 feet. They have been arriving daily on trucks from Massachusetts.

I went to the site again today, got alot of pictures of them working. I missed the 16000 lifting a segment but then again I saw the 999 lift one. I got some awesome shots of the 16000 along with other machines.

Great set of pics-wow! Looks like you were able to get in nice and close.

On the operator. I do not believe he is sleeping. I think he for got his reading glasses and is just looking closely at the racing form!

I really like the short rigged 16000. Looks real beefy!

Thanks, the old bridge right next to it was a perfect spot to get pics.

Haha, he must have been really interesting in the racing form, he was like that for about 40 minutes.

Haha, he decided to wing it this time.
