I am getting close to the end of a project for a customer and was killing time on YouTube today. I'd seen the videoof the D57T before but was again fascinated by the machine. Looked on the shelf to see if I still had a D10 and 657 there.....well you can see how it went from there. Just a mock up for now. Need to finish up the other project and will move on to this one. Granted it's the "newer" version of theirs, but it's a lot easier for me to cut up a new D10T and 657G than it is for them I imagine. ;) Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

Well...it's only been four years since I started the project so I figured I'd work on finishing it up. Got things stripped down and a bit of machining done on the tractor. There's a few obstacles to overcome to get the cab and hitch done correctly, so I'll just have to take it as it comes. Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

Looks good. The only thing I can offer to improve it, is that they cut the hood down considerably on the real machine. So it's only about 2/3 of the height of the hood on your model.

Greasemonkey appears to be correct ! Never saw this machine before, interesting combination/idea.

The hood is lumped in with the cab issues. Contemplating cutting down the 657 hood a bit, but am Not sure it works as well. Lots of metal shavings to be made either way.

Wow, that is a really cool machine, I've never seen one before. It makes perfect sense as they often use a dozer to push a scraper. Best of luck with the custom, it looks like a solid foundation. Take care and all the best.

A little more progress with the hood cut down. As I get further into this, it looks like all I would have needed from the D10 would have been the chassis and front of the hood. Everything else is cut away for the most part. Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

After those pictures were taken, a counterweight was added to the front to balance it out. As you can see, it is kind of tipping backwards in the photos. See: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gld2bxsRS_Ihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Gzu85BZfgU&feature=youtu.be&t=128

Well....I started this back in 2011, so I think my New Years resolution should be to finish it before 2017. ;) I'd wanted to do most of it in brass, but I'd already had a lot of time getting it to where was. I sat down this afternoon and decided to do it up in styrene just to see how it goes. Given what's still ahead, I think I'm going to pass on the brass route. I've already got a lot of time into it, and feel pretty lucky that I haven't destroyed the D10 in the process. (I think I cut up at least 5 D8R's when I was trying to convert it into a properly scaled D7R. Even a blind pig finds a root now and then.) Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years.

So what if it takes forever to finish, it will probably get done...

Quality is not a measure of speed! It is best not to rush a good thing or it just geos south on ya. It looks great and keep us posted.
