Hello to everyone up at the DHS open house.......I am envious.......missed this year
due to business obligations.........I can smell those gourmet dogs all the way down here in DC....
I always feel like a little kid when I approach the tent....and see all the models inside the garage door

I drove my old car to the open house from Chambersburg, PA. I thought it was great! The displays were stunning and it looked like there was a brisk business going at the checkout lines.

The only thing I wish could be done is have some sticky name tags that we could put our forum names on so we could identify and chat with each other. I was likely surrounded with forum members and only recognized one because I knew where he works. ..............Just a thought...........

Been a couple of years since I was last there now. Last time was with BobM, Zach and Jules and was a great weekend roadtrip Teeth

Looking forward to seeing some pictures and reports. Who knows, maybe 2012 I'll make it back again! I still remember going to the first ever DHS Open House back in the day Cool Can't be sure now but I think Alan Smith was there then, or perhaps it was a later one.

..... YES....about now the tear down and clean up is under way.......somebody will post pics soon

A. Smith was there that year......tell you the truth......the open house has gotten better and better each year......last year the room w/ the model + diorama tables was " off the charts "......so much to see....you would be gazing around....and then realize like up 8 ft. on top of a case....holy guacamole....is that the new 1/50 mega dragline.....it's not like that was " so small to miss "....the whole room was " WAY VISUAL ".....and ooops....who's that....hi...it's Michael Ludwig......and then the infamous Mitch Gomez........it was too much fun.....

Sounds/looks like I missed out on a great time. One of these years I am going to make the trip from Kansas City.

Was looking at the post by Chuck with all the details about the weekend and was curious about this. Does anybody know what the models were?

"The Chinese Auction models are ready - you can buy a chance to get one of 6 brand new models for the cost of a $1 ticket with all proceeds go to the Berea Children's Home."

It was a good show! There were many nice models and some especially nice dioramas that people brought to display, and it was great talking with everyone. Unfortunately I was unable to have anything ready to bring to the show, but definitely will display again next year!

The auction was very nice to see as well. There were some very rare items that aren't seen often that were interesting to check out. Some items went for ridiculous prices while others were almost a steal!

I ended up with a CCM 1:48 Bucyrus Erie S4 88B dragline from the auction Saturday, and today from the ADM Vintage collection, I got a 1:50 Liebherr HS882 "Tri Boro" dragline version, and a CCM 1:48 Northwest 190D dragline in original (series 1) Northwest colors of which only 12 were made!

Hello all,

Thanks to everyone who made the trip this year. We are in the middle of cleanup but I am sitting at my desk with my feet up while the staff works away in the very warm warehouse....

Just kidding of course, but I do want to say thanks and I enjoyed meeting many of you this year. Thanks for the great jokes Arty - are all those really true? Thanks for the custom models "fixer".

Thanks for the memories!!

Chuck

I can take photos of the Tri-boro 882 when I get it set up soon. The BE 88B and Northwest 190D won't be for a while until I can get a glass display case to put them in. Neither of them have ever been removed from the boxes or displayed before.

Incidentally, does anyone know a good source for glass display cases/shelves (with doors) at a decent price that would be suitable for displaying some of these dragline models? Smile
