Does anyone have pics of the Los Bronces Chilian Copper Pit or even better, a paint code for their color scheme? Or a way to get a color that is very close to the real color?

Thanks in advance!

Paul A: Yes, I have the blue and orange unit in my cabinet Not exactly the same unit though - in the picture the air cleaner has a hat. The model has a flat top. Different bucket also. Other than the different equipment the paint scheme is the closely the same.

I'm not 100% about Los Bronces but I know Mitchtim has been to some of the Chilean mines and may be of some assistance. He would be worth contacting.

The original shovel modeled by TWH is Shovel number 6 which has the original rectangular type Tenkate air filter mounted on the rear of the machinery house. The machine shown in the photo above is shovel number 8 and is one of the very last machines commissioned in Chile prior to the 495HR2 upgrade. Los bronces have also commissioned a new 495HR2 this year (see link to the video below).

Tim,

Thanks for the awesome pics! They are great!

If anyone else has more pics of their trucks, loaders, or other mining equipment, please post them.

Thanks!

Great pictures. Does this mine shut down in the winter or do they keep running. Looks like they could get a huge amount of snow fall.

That looks like a huge operation. Interesting color on the Komatsu trucks.

This mine is very close to Santiago in the Andes Mountains, not far from the ski fields in fact. In heavy snow the mine does close until the snow can clear and operations can recommence. Codelco-Andina (which also paints their machines orange) is right next to Los Bronces and they also face the same issues with Snow. Other mines to the north of Chile, such as Collahuasi and Escondida also face the same challenge with snow but not to the same extent.

Note the orange Komatsu trucks and Letourneau Loader are actually from Andina and not Los Bronces. The fleet at Los bronces are painted the standard Komatsu yellow.

Tim,

Are the two mines that paint their machines the same color owned by the same company?

Thanks!

Colter,

Los Bronces is owned by Anglo American and Andina is owned by Codelco.
