It certainly is better than that horrible purple/maroon and white that BI was painting them. But still nowhere as nice as the old O&K red and white.

Thanks for posting that, I don't believe anybody had posted a shot of the complete machine yet.

I really wanted to do AIMEX but couldn't get work off :( What does the cab in the last pic belong too?

That's a new style cab off a 495 series shovel. If I remember correctly, Cat's model number for it is a 7495. It's the BI Super 2 cab.

Gav, if you're around there at all, could you get some pics of the inside of the cab?

Will do, there is a 4100XPC cab there also and my initial thoughts were the Cat cab is a little nicer. Not much other big gear there, an L1150 Letourneau and that is about it.

I think you may be a bit biased though Gav!

If these are anything like the last series of BI cabs, the interiors will be rattling and falling out of them in no time.

I think this is funny:

"Safety plays an integral role in everything we do at
Caterpillar, from our factory floors to our service centers
to our clients’ mine sites. Caterpillar’s commitment to
safety is apparent in our product designs, which undergo
risk assessments and are designed to meet strict codes
and regulations. Examples of our safety focus include
the development of a new cab with dual egress doors
and flat floors to provide stretcher-to-operator access
,
LatchFree dipper and HydraCrowd for reduced unplanned
maintenance, and extensive training programs that keep
your operators and maintenance personnel out of
harm’s way."

I think it would have been a better idea to fix the underlying problems with the machine, rather than just make it easier to take the operator out of the cab once you've had to put him on a backboard because of the neck and back injuries the machine's shaking and bucking motions have caused.

Please can you get lots of close up pics and info if possible,on the repainted models in the diorama at the CAT stand!! I have seen a 6060 backhoe ( BYMO RH340B) and a 6030 FS {Conrad RH120-E} along with a 7495 {Bucyrus 495HR} shovel and the MD6640 {Bucyrus 49HR} blasthole drill. There is also an 8750 dragline but i have not seen if it has been repainted like the other 1:50 models!!

I am interested in finding out who did the repaint jobs on these!! Here is a link to the Video clip.

Thanks mate

Great find Brian, work just wasn't as flexible as I had wished at this time of year Sad Wish I was there. Ps. You can see the boom of the 8750 in the bottom right hand corner at the 0:48 mark of the video.

Nice repaints. How much do you think that cost Cat and how much are they worth now?

The models look great in yellow, was speaking to a guy on the stand and the word is the dies are being collected so yellow models can be produced by some one else down the track.

They look much better than any of the photoshop brochures and will be better again in 1/1 scale.

CAT
"/>
495HR in disguise as a CAT.
"/>
The poor OLD Terex O&K RH340 now in it's third incarnation as a CAT...been around that model!!! The CAT version has the drive sprocket on the front, so that's a new innovation from Caterpillar.
"/>
The even older RH120...poor thing is falling apart; nice one Caterpillar.
"/>

"/>

P&H
"/>
The new TWH produced 4100XPC was on display at both the P&H and Drake stands. Unfortunately both suffered from the seeming standard defective crowd mechanism!!!

Bauer
"/>
The real thing, or...
"/>
...the take-away version.

All-in-all a poor show sadly lacking in big machinery.

Great photos from AIMEX Chris53...thanks very much for sharing with us!!
I notice that they decided not to make the 8750 boom and it's support structure black as per the photoshopped images on the website and brochures!!

Maybe the actual draglines will not be painted like that model.

It will be interesting to see if TWH continue to produce their ex-Bucyrus models for CAT.What will happen to the BYMO models that now fall under the CAT brand?

Cheers

Or it's just 1/50 scale operator abuse, digging over the final drives, tsk.

Jim
