Wow, check the red lights on top of the masts!. I know it's maybe already part of many big cranes but those ones look huge.

What a treat to see these pics and yes I hope we see some daytime and perhaps lift ones.

Where in Arizona is this? I'm taking a trip to the land of neon lights, alcohol and scantily clad women. It's worth a trip out to see in person.

The job is in Chandler,AZ a suburb south of Phoenix. You can get pretty close without security getting excited, definitely worth a trip if you are in the neighborhood!!

Rec'd yesterday from WSI:

SGC Introduction

As we proudly announced to you at the end of last year, WSI Models B.V., in collaboration with Sarens N.V., was planning to recreate the Sarens Giant Crane (SGC-12) as a 1:50 scale model.

Almost a year later, we have virtually reached completion of this complex development process. All of the samples have been approved and we are now at the stage where the final moulds are being produced. WSI Models aims to introduce this unique, giant scale model at the next Spielwaremesse fair in February 2012.

To give you an impression of the background and development of the SCG, we have included a number of interesting facts for you below.

Due to growing market demand for cranes that can lift and transport increasingly heavier loads, Sarens decided to build the SGC-120 itself.

The SGC-120 is a 130 metre high movable, hydraulic diesel-powered crane with a lifting capacity of up to 3200 tonnes. This 130 metre high peak can be extended with a 92 metre long fixed attachment. The crane can be assembled by twenty people in six weeks and fits in 140 containers that can be shipped anywhere in the world.

The SGC-120 is mounted on a circular platform with specially designed rails. A unique system of measuring transducers on its winches and direct control via a computer allows the crane to be used with extreme precision: any tracking-related deviations are limited to no more than 4-5 mm.

The engineers at Sarens decided to have most of the components manufactured from high-strength steel, which means the crane can achieve a significant capacity of 3200 tonnes, while the crane itself only weighs 6540 tonnes. This, together with the crane’s unique design, ensures that the ground load amounts to no more than 20/m2.

As you have come to expect from us, the scale model will be created down to the smallest details.
We can already tell you that the SGC-120 scale model will become a very special collector’s item and will be available in limited edition. Go to our website to reserve this unique crane now.

I assumed that it would be released as a 1/87 scale model because of the size. That will be a absolute beast in 1/50th because it dwarfs the Manitowoc 18000s on the site. The ring base might be close to 3' and the height with jib has got to be almost 6'.

Thank you for posting the photographs.
