The crane barge Chesapeake 1000 is coming to Rhode Island in the next few weeks to salvage a sunken support barge that is lying upside down under the Pell Bridge. The barge was being used as an equipment platform for sand blasting operations on the bridge. The barge sank during the unusual snow storm New England experienced a few weeks ago. The plan is to flip the barge over under water in a process known as "parbuckling". I live close by so I will try to get some close up photos of the operations.

The Chesapeake 1000 arrived in Rhode Island yesterday. It is due to be moved to the Pell Bridge over the weekend. I cannot get close to it for photos due to security at Quonset Point. I will go to Jamestown on Monday and get pics.

The Chesapeake 1000 was towed down to the Pell Bridge (commonly called The Newport Bridge) today. It is located out in the middle of the bay so, it is difficult to get any good close up photos. My little Cannon takes so-so telephoto pictures. Anyway, here are the photos I took:

Yes you are correct, she was the Sun 800. Then she was named the Chespeake 800. The when Donjon bought her they up graded her for 800 tons to 1000 tons.
