Greg, nice work. What size brass is that for the railings? They look really good. Just might inspire me to finish a 5110 project I started about 6 years ago.

Wow thats awesome! Never seen a 5110 front shovel, so I have always assumed they didnt make one.
Anyone know how many 5110 that where made as a front shovel? Can´t be that many since more or less every picture on the web is of a backhoe 5110.

That is very impressive! I can't wait to see this one complete. Is it for a customer or the personal collection? Thanks for the acknowledgement Greg but I believe it's a scan from one of Eric Orlemann's books. Perhaps the Caterpillar Chronicle? I can't recall. Tarantula, this was the only 5110FS ever made, it was a prototype that never went into production. ROwan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator

A friend of mine and I thought about doing this custom a few months ago after seeing the pictures of it in the Caterpillar book.

Nice job, but I would make the correct bucket and not use a Komatsu 1100 bucket

I recall someone swapping the FS from a Shinsei EX1800 with the 5110 to make a Hitachi EX1800 backhoe / 5110 FS, a few years back. Rowan. 1:25th scale CAT 375L excavator
