Great pictures, THANKS for sharing. The crane in the third pic looks like it has two large stacks on it. Was it a steamer at one time?

Correct, it is the Cape Fear owned by Mclean Contracting Company. She's rated to 150 tons at 55' fully revolving. They converted her to diesel years ago, but my recollection is that there are still boilers for powering steam hammers. One of my all-time favorite rigs! My father worked for Mclean and I grew up on their jobs...
Thanks for posting the pics!! Love the Mclean rigs...would love to see a few more of those! They have some beautiful machines.

Dumpster, Another reason a lot of they old floating rigs have two stacks is because they use two motors. One for swing and on for hoist. Pretty common on Steam converted rigs. CraneInnovation, I have a few 4000 on a ring from a local company Crofton Diving Company. My pictures are from a distance and off my iphone. I will post them soon. 4000 on a ringDPD1, Which precon rig did you like. I have tons of pics of there rigs, as I work for them. Justin

I'd love to see those 4000 Ring pics!
Boy, that elevated cab 888 is in rough shape since the last time I saw it....I think that was at least 9 years ago up here on the Big Dig.

Ed No I work for Precon Marine. As for rigs Tidewater owned before Skanska bought them, It was mostly Diamond Marines old Whirly rigs. They had a few Manitowocs and Americans. Justin
