Posting on behalf of a good friend the new 6050 that has just gone to work. The machine sports a black attachement as opposed to the std yellow front end.

This machine is destined to dig coal at the site and with the LED lights now used that light will be absobed by the black boom more so than reflect with glare when in use so on the night shift this should assist the operators with seeing the partings and coal.

gavin84w,

Please say thanks to your friend for sharing the photos with you, and thank you for sharing them with all of us!

This really doesn't look bad compared to the unit in the photos below. The stick deflectors are a bit unsightly in yellow, but nothing a couple of rattle cans couldn't correct.

If I had Photoshop and knew how to use it, I'd like to see how it would look with the cylinder sleeves, stiff-legs and bellcrank painted yellow. Where's RowanH?

Here's another 6050 downunder in plain vanilla although it will change hues if they don't wash it regularly. Photo credits to ben.

Robert Heuston,

Why didn't you get any photos for us?

Please use this before clicking "post"??? You may be surprised with what you see!

Great photos Gav, the scheme has really grown on me and looks much better with a black front end. I'm guessing that's some pretty heavy sound suppression stuff over the rear fans / exhaust?

Shovelman, I'm out of town at the moment but I may be able to have a go at it in a couple of days time.

Rowan.

I would say Lihir, in PNG. They have always run RH200 machines with 785,s and 3 pass load them. I think they don,t load there shots up too much as the mine is right on the waters edge and they are digging below sea level so don,t want stir things up with big crackers but rely on a machine maybe a tad oversize to acomplish the digging.

I think the black front end makes it look 100% better. Too bad that was not standard. I like Cat yellow, but the new machines have just too much of it, with nothing to break it up.
