I added 2 cat 631E's to the fleet.

The fleet is slowly growing.

I also picked up some metal tracks for my dozers. I realize Eric has some great double grousers for sale but I really wanted the look of the single grousers.

The chains are still a little loose but removing one more link made them impossible to put together.

Then on to my D10N project. I am in the process of building a better D10 pushcat. The engine bay is well underway but the tracks have a way to go and I am still searching for a blade.

These rollers are going to be a lot of work to shave down!

Basketball Man,

Both Caterpillar dozers will look much better with metal tracks, however, the metal track on the D8R are on backwards.

Thanks for letting me know. I was trying to make sure they were on right but, at 2 in the morning a lot seems to go wrong.Teeth They need to come back off for paint anyway.

Yes, they are!!! I've done this to fit CCM td40 tracks to the model many years ago, filling, sanding and dremmel tools leave the plastic "fuzzy" if you have access to a lathe, that's your best bet.

Though i must admit those conrad tracks look great on the dozer the D10 looks like a ton of work to make them fit the dozer i know on my D10 i buy the joal tracks they fit right on the idlers without and cutting. Buy 3 tracks and it will be enough to make both sides if i recall right there around 10 bucks a track.

I sort of made a red-neck lathe with a brass rod and a drill and then some files. It worked well on the D8R so it should hold true for the D10.

Got the engine of the D10N painted and the D8R done. Just need the blade for the D10.

How do you like those conrad tracks? are they pretty sturdy? and easy to work with?

The tracks themselves are sturdy and fairly easy to work with. It is somewhat painstaking to fit the tracks on the model due to the guesswork in the number of links needed. Conrad does provide much of the track sections pre-assembled. The hardest part of fitting the tracks was shaving the sprockets and idlers down to 2MM so they will fit inside of the Conrad track rails. Overall I am pleased with the investment and they also look really good.

They look great.
If I may say something and I hope everyone else may want to take note of fit you put a coat of white primer or paint down first all the yellows and oranges will cover better with less paint and a brighter look to them. This has come about by not been able to use lead base paints so the white helps.

Thanks, I did not primer these models. I will have to keep that in mind, I imagine these may be weathered in the future to match the rest of the collection.
