All;

In cooperation with Tonkin Replicas we're running a market research survey
on behalf of Tonkin Replicas to assist them in selecting which Caterpillar
models to produce. Tonkin was recently awarded the rights to produce
Caterpillar models in 1/87 scale. While we don't expect each model group in
our survey will necessarily be produced our survey will help guide Tonkin in
their choices.

Several things to remember about the survey:

1.) You get one and only one vote in each category and one survey; you can
interrupt your survey and finish later but once you click on "Submit" you
can no longer change your choices.
2.) You don't need to select a choice in every product group; only make a
selection for items you want to see produced. IF nothing interests you,
don't make a selection for that product group
3.) We intend to run the survey through January 1, 2013 unless Tonkin asks
us to end the survey sooner.

We ask you to participate if you have any interest in having new Caterpillar
models produced in 1/87 (HO) scale. Thanks!

DHS Diecast wholeheartedly supports this survey - please take a few moments and give your thoughts. Remember, Tonkin has said they will produce 1:50, 1:87 and even a few 1:64 scale models in their new Caterpillar line!

I realize this survey is for their 1/87 line. It seems as though 1/50 scale is beginning to dominate this hobby and 1/87 is fading out. In my opinion if a company could negotiate with Caterpillar licensing and make their models in 1/50 I think that company could do quite well financially.

I feel like producing some of the models in the survey would sell like hot cakes if they were in 1/50 scale. Maybe some others can chime in and back that.

Cat 349E Excavator
Cat 980K Loader

Personally I would like to see in 1/50.
Caterpillar RM500 Road Reclaimer.
Caterpillar 621H Scraper.
Caterpillar D9T Track-Type Tractor

I hope my choices are good!!!

I'd like to see ALL the logging AND paving models done as there is very few if any of that stuff for 1:87 (HO) scale!! I am working on a logging train consisting of disconnect logs cars (where the logs make the cars and the trucks hook together to be towed back to the loading area) and a switch engine locomotive. I would absolutely get the HO logging equipment to go with this train!!!!

Dain

I'm a kid at heart, so I will play with any model construction vehicle from 1:87 scale to 1:1 scale!!!!

Age is a state of time NOT a state of mind!!

Crap, any one of those in 1/50 would be awesome. 349e, i would personally see what the 385 would be like, any K series loader-preferably the 950k/972k, rubber tire roller, the D3k, 637g and/or the D10 w/tow scrapers, any logging equipment line, the CT660 concrete truck since there is very little available in the American truck line.

One can only hope.

PS. Wouter would have a coronary if a CAT forklift was finally produced in 1/50.

Even though I rarely pick up 1:87 pieces anymore, I have to say Tonkin is certainly on the right track with a detailed survey like this, instead of weeding through endless wishlists of collectors. I just hope the offer something like this when it comes to the 1:50 scale line!

I would assume that like Norscot, CAT will have the overriding and final say but I think that this is an impressive move by Tonkin to have the collectors input, well done! I have submitted my choices and selected based upon what isn't currently or previously available. I agree that the 349E would be amazing but would have expected to see it in 1:50?

Rowan.
