Hello all,

Just was talking about this with a couple of collectors from the Great White North and decided to start a new topic to get some feedback to Tonkin.

Here is my post about the announcement in case you have living under a rock all this time...

Tonkin will produce in three scales, 1:50, 1:64 and 1:87. They will be high quality models at a good price. Theirs is not an exclusive license. Tonkin plans to produce at least 2 1:50 scale models to be released in 2013 - perhaps announced at Toyfair. There will be more models released in the 1:87 scale size because they are easier to make and will be good test models for Tonkin's new line.

There are two ways that Cat models can appear. One is if a group within Cat wants to have a model made, they can work with one of the approved licensees to make that happen. The other is if the licensee wants to bring a model to market on their own. In either situation, the model needs to be fully approved by Caterpillar in order to be produced.

Both Tonkin and Norscot will be producing Caterpillar models for the general public. Both TWH and CCM also have specialty licenses for certain Caterpillar products as well.

Cat has expanded its options with multiple suppliers - which I think is great for the collectors. There will be more choices out there and therefore competition - which is always a good thing for the "end user".

If you have ideas for Cat Models, please post them here - we will be happy to lobby for specific models if there is a real interest.

Chuck

So let's hear it. Be realistic and support your ideas with some real thought if you can.

Thanks.

Chuck

Great news!

Now, I've never been the kind to throw in a Wishlist, but how many times was a 345 asked for? I don't know, but I know it came back several time everytime a collective wishlist was started. I don't mind it being a B, C, D or a 349, but we need a Caterpillar in the 45/50 tons class trackhoes!

Hey Chuck, thanks for the info. Would love to have a 349E series Excavator and possibly a midsize K series Loader with changeable Bucket and Forks. (938K, 950K, etc...) and a 314LCR zero tail swing

Here is my list based on their current lineup

All 1/50 Scale

1. Cat 973D LGP. A 973 Sized track loader was never made in 1/50 by the various previous Caterpillar licensees.

2. Caterpillar IT62H. The only 1/50 Scale Integrated Tool Carrier was made years ago by Conrad.

3. Caterpillar 345DL. A popular request from collectors.

4. Caterpillar 272D XHP. Works tools would be nice with it too.

5. Caterpillar 430F.

Wouldn't mind a 314LCR zero tail swing a 325 log loader or a 299 tracked skid loader with a few attachments aka pallet forks auger broom cutting tool.

It would be nice to see a new cat 627 type scraper. Also a 349 or 345 type excavator.

I will echo for a 1:50 scale 349E and a 312E. A D9T would be nice as well. I know it is unlikely but I still vote for a 621H.

568 Log Loader and/or Forestry Machine, 350 L although I think a 345D L would be more likely, D7R II, D9T.

Yes! This I would like to see. A P9000 or something in that size range would be awesome.

I'm also hoping for a 527 tracked skidder and a 568 log loader and processor. Hoping they'll build some cat forest stuff. A Denharco stroke delimber on a 325D would also be an epic model.

My TOP FIVE:

1: Caterpillar 568FM
2: Caterpillar 299D
3: Caterpillar RM500
4: Caterpillar 584
5: Caterpillar 795F AC

All these Caterpillar machines are never been produced as a scale model in 1:50 and would be adding much value to their scale model line up.

It also would be a great oppertunity for TONKIN to place them as a serious player in the market and distinguish them from Norscot and CCM.

Why wait? Start producing today! Teeth

Wouter
