They have gotten the main pond at the shopping center job done, they dug it using the pull pans, there are three on this job, one of which broke down a little over a week ago and was still being worked on last Thursday.

Back in January they started logging/clearing a piece of land for some new apartments, the owners of the land had some issues with the bank and couldn't do but one apartment at first so they only had a little over half of the land cleared and then had the grading and utilities done.
This is about what it looked like after the clearing guy left.

Yesterday the brush on the uncleared half of the property caught on fire, it probably didn't help that it was over 100 degrees and windy, the local Fire department and the USFS responded to the fire.
I took a few photos of there newer Deere 700K Fire dozer, I have seen photos of this dozer in a local newspaper, but never thought I would see it in a residential area, much less within walking distance of my house.

That's an unusual blade for a 700. Most have pat bade never seen one with an outside frame blade. Usfs here in northern az loves the 700s there a good size for a fire dozer. Why do they put plows on there fire dozer back there?

Yea, I had only seen photos of 700/750 dozers with an outside blade frame until this dozer, around here the USFS just welds cutting edges or has a custom mini v blade built like the one on this 700K. Here in NC the fire dozers do a lot of fire line building so they pull a disc to use while building the fire lines. I was able to get one short video of the dozer helping to put out the fire.

I went out the the shopping center job on Friday and got some photos of some of the equipment in action, I talked to the guy I know, he says he is one of two sub contractors and that he will be on site for three more months.
They got the permits needed to start clearing some more of the land.
Cat 322C L and 320E L clearing.

Rental Deere 8420 with 15yd pan, the pan had a cylinder go out so there was someone working on it.

The guy I know owns these pans, an 8410 and 8400, the 8400 was the one that was broken down recently, it had an issue with the axle, they are both pulling 1510C pans.

A little overview of part of the site.

His Newer Cat D6K2 LGP.

I got a few videos and will post links when they are uploaded.

I really don't get the point of that C-frame blade on the 700K.

I know it's not factory, it probably makes the plow easier to use. In all the years I have worked with deere never seen one. Chris

I don't know about the plow really. I was thinking taking stumps out might be too hard on the angle cylinders of a 6 ways to keep it on... But then again, we flip dirt and with the 6 ways when the can doesn't have a ripper or there's no disker on site. For sure you can't wear out the cylinders on that blade!

I have been told they don't use a six way blade to save money, and they custom build there own blade like the one welded onto the C frame. There older dozer, was a 650G I think, and it did have a six blade.

So far I have uploaded two of the videos I took at the shopping center job to my youtube, Cat 322C L and 320E L clearing land. and Cat D6K2 LGP grading.

While out and about yesterday I passed by the Shopping center job and saw the main contractor had purchased a brand-new Cat D6K2 LGP, It had not yet had any paint worn off of the blade.

And they were working on burning brush.

They are still working on finishing a bridge that was started back in 2012, they only have some concrete work left, mainly medians. I drove past that job yesterday and saw that they had hauled in a brand-new Cat 311F LRR to remove the old median, they had the lowboy ready to haul it off of the job as soon as they were done with removing the old median, as I was taking a few photos a train started crossing just up the road and took about twenty minuets to cross the road causing a major back up. They also had a rental 236D.

Here are some photos I took the other day of some older and some large machines, these machines are all owned by a guy who uses/used them to dig ponds to grow catfish in, he does a lot of the work on the ponds in the fall when it is cooler since his equipment doesn't have AC. As far as I know he owns the largest dozers, scraper, excavator, and track loader in my county.
Nine yard Wabco Electric/cable scrapers

Cat D8H

Ex NC Dot Case Poclain 125B

Liebherr 641 track loader, this track loader was originally owned by a demolition company out of VA.

Here is another beast, Liebherr R972HD this one was owned by a construction company out of Va.

Now onto the dozers I came out to see, i only have photos of three of them, but He owns four!! two have 17 foot U blades, the other two have 22 foot U blades.
Fiat-Allis 31's
This one is having some work done on the UC so the blade is in-front of it.

He hasn't put these two together since he bought them, they used to be used on a Coal stock pile at a power plant.
These do have cabs sitting somewhere else on his land with the other weights/rippers and blades, and the 22 foot blades belong to these.

And the one I didnt take photos of had a transmission issue.
Next up is a Hancock 292 scraper.

This was originally sold by Linder in Florida, who now sells Komatsu machines in NC, I don't think they had a location here until more recently.

Now this right here was a pleasant surprise, I didn't know that he owned this until he showed it too me.
Euclid S24

Euclid 82FD

AM General

His first dozer, a John Deere 450B

He has a few other machines I didnt take photos of or chose not to post, all my photos are on my Flickr.
